Where Discipleship Happens Every Day
OUR LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE
United Methodists believe that discipleship begins in the local church. To support that work, each congregation has essential committees and ministry teams that ensure healthy governance, responsible stewardship, and a wide range of voices at the table. Members typically serve in three-year cycles, creating balance, continuity, and shared leadership.

Below you’ll find a simple breakdown of our core committees and teams, along with what each one does.
LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
The Leadership Council is the primary administrative body of Aldersgate. All committees report to this group. The council initiates planning, sets goals, oversees action steps, and evaluates the effectiveness of our ministries throughout the year.
The council includes representatives from each committee, staff, at-large members from the congregation, and ex officio participants. All meetings are open to the congregation, and council members hold the voting responsibility.
TRUSTEES
The Trustees steward and maintain all church property so our ministries can thrive. They oversee buildings, grounds, equipment, and all legal responsibilities tied to physical assets. Their work ensures safe, functional, and welcoming spaces for worship and ministry.
STAFF-PARISH RELATIONS COMMITTEE
This committee focuses on relationships. They support staff well-being, nurture healthy communication, and help the congregation and staff work together effectively. They evaluate staff effectiveness, recommend salaries, and plan for future staffing needs. Their ministry balances encouragement and accountability for the good of the church.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee prepares the annual budget, recommends adjustments throughout the year, and oversees the financial accounts of the church. They also develop stewardship plans to support the approved budget. Their leadership sustains every ministry and mission at Aldersgate.
NOMINATIONS AND LAY LEADERSHIP
This committee invites and recommends individuals to serve on Aldersgate’s committees. They match gifts, abilities, and experiences with leadership needs across the church. Led by the pastor, this team operates independently from other committees to support thoughtful, prayerful discernment.
MISSIONS TEAM
While not an administrative committee, the Missions Team is central to Aldersgate’s identity. They coordinate mission giving, local outreach, and hands-on service opportunities throughout the year. Their leadership helps our congregation actively love and serve our neighbors.

OUR UNITED METHODIST CONNECTION
Aldersgate is part of a worldwide connection of United Methodist congregations. Through this connection, churches support one another, share resources, collaborate in ministry, and maintain accountability. This structure strengthens our local mission and encourages every congregation to live out its call with integrity and purpose.
